Joy Tochi Brinkmann

ICU-RN, MA, LPC-Associate

Joy integrates into her counseling practice her many years of compassionately working in hospitals as an ICU-RN and patient-care advocate. Her background has prepared her in providing medication counseling and insight in general medical illnesses geared towards restoring wholeness, wellness, and wellbeing (Body, Mind, and Spirit). 

Joy seeks to rebuild, establish, and transform her clients by using Christ-Centered Counseling and integrative counseling techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative / Story Telling. She also has completed basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. 

She inspires to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship for maximizing total healing, rebuilding lives, and empowering others in re-writing their life stories and family history. Joy's goal is to respectfully serve as a guiding-light as you realize your unique strengths for your healthiest self and complete freedom. 

Education and Background

Joy is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate in the state of Texas under the supervision of C. Huston McComb, Jr., LPC-S. She received her Masters in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Joy is also a Licensed Registered Nurse (ICU-RN) in the state of Texas, currently working in the community as a Critical-Need Pediatric RN. She works with chronic illness, and is well experienced in Psychiatric hospital settings and Intensive Outpatient Programming, both with group and individual environments. Joy holds a degree in Leadership, was a High School educator for 9th and 10th grade, and she was also a banker.
