Morgan Norrell

LPC

As a counselor, I find value in first identifying and connecting with clients as a means of building a foundation of trust and respect. I believe in meeting clients where they're at on an emotional level. Clients are the experts of their own lives, and there are moments in life when we all face challenges and hardships. Change can be difficult, but I believe it's attainable with the proper guidance, support and resources. Through out the counseling process, I'm committed to walk alongside my clients as they move towards growth and freedom from anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, grief & loss, stress, low self esteem, substance abuse, relational challenges, codependency, difficult life transitions, and marriage/family issues.

I approach counseling from a biblical perspective, along with CBT, Emotion-Focused and Person Centered approaches. I have also completed basic training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy to help in single-event, childhood, continuous, or recent trauma. I offer Christian Counseling, which provides a unique perspective for those who wish to include the Christian faith into their counseling experience. Though I offer this perspective, I respect the religious beliefs of all persons and will work with anyone who is ready to work towards individual and/or relational growth.

Education and Background

I received a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from The University of Houston-Victoria and Bachelor of Behavioral Science in Psychology from Hardin-Simmons University. I gained experience as a Practicum student by working in a private practice where individual, marital/family and group counseling services were provided. I also gained Practicum experience with New Dimensions Day Hospital. As an LPC-Intern, I gained further experience by working with The Source Houston, Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center, and Judah Christian Counseling & Recovery. Through my years of experience as a counselor, I understand the purpose of counseling is to attain individual and/or relational goals set & agreed upon by both the client & counselor.
