Experience

As an LPC Associate, I have experience from my graduate program practicum with individual counseling for adults and teens, as well as some limited experience with couples. As a person, I come from a large homeschool family, with several internationally adopted children. Having spent ages 8-17 overseas with my family, I am what is known as a“Third Culture Kid.”I also have personal experience with depression, anxiety, anorexia, grief and loss, and chronic physical health challenges, as well as pathways forward in all of these areas. All of these experiences help me to empathize with others and to listen, considering just how varied and nuanced the human experience can be. Everyone has a story, and I look forward to helping clients’ navigate theirs.

Education & Background

  • B.A. in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from Moody Bible Institute
  • M.Ed. in Counseling from The University of Houston
  • Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas

Professional Philosophy

I believe that our mental health is an inseparable part of what makes up the rest of us, thus I view counseling as a holistic process, considering the emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health of clients and their environments. My approach is somewhat Person-Centered with a Christian
worldview, while also incorporating the highly effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach as well as Family Systems. Most importantly, I want to help clients reach their own counseling goals
and to educate them on the counseling process so that they can make informed decisions about the direction and progress of their therapy.

Personal Background

My husband and I were married in 2018, and we have two beautiful young children and one on the way. We love our church and community. In our free time, we spend time together outside, craft, play board games, visit family, or have friends over for a meal. I love to read about Christian spirituality and theology, the news, and classic literature. Being creative, I love to research and cook healthy meals or to sew clothes for my daughter–or maybe just watch a sci-fi movie with my husband.
