Life has different seasons for everything. Some seasons can feel more overwhelming and stressful than others, and it is hard to go through alone. Maybe you struggle with thoughts that are difficult to manage, or you have gone through an event that has impacted your ability to cope and function. Perhaps social situations have become confusing, anxiety-provoking, and exhausting. You are not alone. My goal is to help adolescents and adults manage and overcome life obstacles.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, life changes, autism, ADHD, and healing from trauma. Also, I enjoy working with people who experience the mental and emotional challenges of adapting to a new culture. During our sessions, we can create a safe environment where you can reveal strengths and vulnerabilities, identify what matters most, and take action while practicing new skills.
Your therapy will be tailored to your needs, culturally sensitive, insightful, and action-oriented. I will use various evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy while providing education so that you can develop your own skill set for regaining control, reaching your goals, and being your authentic self again. I can also provide counseling with a Christian perspective upon request.
Education and Background
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas under the supervision of C. Huston McComb, Jr. I earned my BS in Industrial Psychology from the University of Leon in Guanajuato, Mexico, and MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Houston Clear-Lake. I completed my student practicum and internship at Non-profit Organization and gain great experience in working with a diverse population.
My knowledge, skills and experience afford me an opportunity to serve adolescents and adults. I am passionate about working with the Hispanic community and families that have a member with a mental disorder such as autism. In addition, I am proficient and fluent in Spanish.
I have been happily married for almost ten years. My husband and I are actively involved serving at our Church. Aside from counseling, I enjoy reading, working out, practicing mindfulness, taking care of our pets and spending quality time with my family.
