I retired from teaching after 28 years in the classroom. Because adolescents often discuss life issues with teachers, counseling is a natural transition after a diverse teaching career. I have witnessed numerous challenges that adolescents face that include poverty, abuse, family issues, divorce, trauma, school bullying, cyber bullying, learning difficulties, as well as autism, ADHD, anxiety, and depression. During my teaching career, I had the honor of witnessing many adolescents grow into wonderful responsible adults overcoming many mental health struggles during high school years. I have counseled adults, adolescents, children, couples, families and groups toward wellness and improved relationships with friends, family, and spouses. I have personally experienced how addiction affects individuals, spouses, children, and communities. Helping individuals and families heal relationships disrupted by addiction and staying on the path of recovery is a great passion and one of my counseling focuses.
