Professional Philosophy

I believe every person’s experiences, struggles, and journey deserve to be met with compassion, understanding, and respect. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to work through life’s challenges. I tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs using evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Client Centered Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I strive to help clients recognize that emotions can be processed and worked through rather than avoided. My faith encourages me to walk alongside clients with empathy, humility, prayer, and encouragement as they pursue healing and growth.

Experience & Specializations

I have worked in the helping profession for over twenty years, supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult circumstances. My experience includes working in residential settings with survivors of domestic violence, sexual abuse, as well as intensive residential treatment facilities for individuals challenged with mental illness and addiction. I’ve provided services in Partial Hospitalization Programs(PHP) and Methadone clinics. I have experience working in crisis intervention and providing advocacy during hospital accompaniments.

Throughout my career, it has been most rewarding seeing individuals develop healthy coping strategies, create safety plans, access supportive resources, maintain sobriety, and pursue long-term healing and recovery.

Education & Licensure

I received my undergraduate degree in Health Sciences from Alcorn State University and my Master’s of Science in Psychology with a specialization in Addiction Psychology from Capella University and another Master’s of Science in Human Services with specialization in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I am licensed in Texas as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) in Texas. I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Personal Background

I have been married for 35 years and have two adult children. I am the proud grandmother of three. I enjoy going to church on Sundays and spending time with my family. I love to work in my flower garden and spend time in my backyard on the patio. I also enjoy eating ice cream and reading inspiring books. One scripture that inspires my life and work is Ephesians 2:10 (NIV): “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
