Shanese Sly Headshots Circle

M.A., LPC, NCC

Shanese Sly

Life can feel overwhelming at times. You may be carrying stress, anxiety, past hurt, relationship challenges, or simply feeling stuck. Sometimes we allow pain and  unprocessed trauma to consume us when it goes unaddressed. There is something incredibly powerful about walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and rediscover hope, clarity, and purpose. My greatest professional fulfillment comes from witnessing clients reach their therapeutic goals and recognize the growth that has taken place within them. Those breakthrough moments, when confidence replaces doubt and hope replaces discouragement; are why I continue to do this work. I would be honored to walk alongside you through this season and support you as you pursue healing, restoration, and renewed hope.

Education & Licensure

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Houston–Downtown and went on to receive my Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. My educational journey equipped me with the clinical knowledge and practical skills necessary to serve individuals and families effectively while strengthening my commitment to walking alongside others with compassion, integrity, and purpose. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors, and I also hold certification as a Professional School Counselor. These credentials allow me to support children, adolescents, and adults across various stages of life with a strong ethical and professional foundation.

Experience & Specializations

My experience as a Professional School Counselor combined with my work as a Licensed Professional Counselor allows me to serve children, teens, and adults with insight, empathy, and culturally responsive care. I work with individuals facing a wide range of challenges. I am especially passionate about helping children and adolescents navigate identity development, peer relationships, emotional regulation, and life transitions. I also enjoy equipping parents with practical strategies to support their children’s emotional and behavioral well-being. Additionally, I enjoy working with women and adults who are seeking to strengthen self-worth, heal from past trauma, manage life stressors, and cultivate healthier relationships. My goal is to empower clients to build resilience, gain clarity, and develop the tools necessary to experience lasting emotional and relational growth.

Professional Philosophy

I believe counseling is a collaborative journey where individuals are empowered to heal, grow, and rediscover hope. My approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and evidence-based practices, while honoring each person’s unique story and experiences. I value a biblical perspective in counseling while respecting each client’s individual beliefs. Christian counseling is available upon request.

Personal Background

I have been married to my college sweetheart and best friend for 24 years, and we are the parents of three sons. My family is one of my greatest blessings and has deeply shaped my perspective on faith, resilience, and connection. I cherish quality time together, whether playing board games or simply enjoying meaningful moments at home. I also enjoy serving our community through volunteer projects, as giving back is an important part of who I am.
